"Vacationland is done in a creative, visionary, and soulful way that only someone who loves this area could do. The book is beautifully constructed, thoughtful in its attention to both large and very small detail, and the best Guide Book/Visitors Guide I have ever seen on Estes Park!"
"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Restaurant Guide" Charles from Michigan
We all have souvenirs of our childhood, fond memories of the best of times growing up. Many of us keep them securely boxed up in a corner of the attic, but certain things stay out because they are not only a part of our history, but also a part of our family’s legacy.Read more: Trail Tags
The famous Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater produces live professional plays. This year's company is bigger than ever with nearly 60 people producing and performing for the 2013 season.
The 12,000-square-foot complex at the corner of Grand Avenue and Vine Street in Grand Lake features 297 comfortable stadium seats, lobby, backstage area, dressing rooms, enhanced sound, advanced lighting components and a multi-purpose room. Since 2008, more than $5 million was raised to build the complex. (The town of Grand Lake has only 450 residents, but more than 1,000 individual donors contributed to the building project.) The new theater replaces the Grand Lake Community House, a log cabin structure built in 1922.
Now in its fourth decade, the live theater performs professional plays and musicals in rotation. The summer repertory shows include Peter Pan from June 14-August 23, with music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne. A special effects company from Louisville, KY is installing the flying technology that will allow actors to fly onstage, a milestone for both the theatre and Grand Lake. From June 21-August 22 the theatre presents How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. Marvin Hamlisch's music is featured in A Chorus Line, one of the most iconic musicals of all time, from July 5-August 24. Ring of Fire showcases the music of Johnny Cash from August 30-September 28. Listen to a 14-piece orchestra at the 2013 RMRT Fundraising Cabaret on July 28. Doors open 5pm, show starts at 5:30pm. A full schedule is available at www.rockymountainrep.com.
Seating is reserved and advance purchase is recommended. Tickets by phone, mail and online. (970) 627-3421.
The mountains offer wonderful adventures for children, but most children have a fairly short attention span. Young children ages three to five like exploring. Everywhere you go here, there is the opportunity to admire animals, flowers and bugs. Take the time to notice the small stuff. School-age children with their abundant energy, can hike up a mountain trail, go horseback riding or even do bumper boats. As for the teenagers, they spend so much time “connected” these days that it is great to get them simply out-of-doors. Add some adrenaline with river rafting, mountain biking or go carts.
